Mooresville is 2-8 against Lake Norman since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Mooresville made easy work of Statesville and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mooresville was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-12, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman hadn't done well against Davie County recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 victory over the War Eagles.
The win didn't come easy: Davie County scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19.
Mooresville better keep an eye on Avery Bessho. She was instrumental in Lake Norman's win, getting 11 digs and four aces. Those 11 digs gave Bessho a new career-high.
Lake Norman's victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Mooresville, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Mooresville has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Lake Norman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mooresville was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Norman when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
