The James Buchanan Rockets will head out on the road to challenge the Littlestown Thunderbolts at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. James Buchanan has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 10.
James Buchanan fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Delone Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Squires by a score of 6-5.
Aidan Secrest put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Cody Johnson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Hunter Barnes also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Littlestown earned a 4-1 win over Delone Catholic last Friday.
Colton Kabrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Bossom, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Littlestown's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Jackson Bacher was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Littlestown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for James Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-18.
Everything went James Buchanan's way against Littlestown in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as James Buchanan made off with an 11-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
