Basketball Recap: Cannon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Charlotte Catholic

Cannon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 80-72 to Charlotte Catholic. On the bright side, the 72- point effort marked Cannon's highest-scoring matchup to date.

Cannon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of DJ Rogers, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 26 points and five rebounds, and Sean Nix, who posted 21 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Rogers is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Steinour, who earned eight points.

Charlotte Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Kapsiak led the charge by going 10-for-15 to rack up 28 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 28 points gave Kapsiak a new career-high. Jack Siegel was another key player, shooting 43% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Cannon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Cannon has already played their next game, a 73-66 victory against Winston Salem Christian on the 21st. As for Charlotte Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-45 win against Charlotte Latin on the 21st.
