The Rich Rebels had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-48 win over Big Piney. The win was all the more spectacular given Rich's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 85th in Utah, while Big Piney is ranked 31st in Wyoming).
Rich's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Desch, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Desch also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Muirbrook, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Rich's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Big Piney, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6.
Rich will square off against Tabiona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tabiona knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Rich likes a good challenge. As for Big Piney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kemmerer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
