Americas ran circles around El Dorado on Friday, and the extra yardage (665 yards vs. 245.1 yards) paid off. Americas were the clear victor by a 56-26 margin over El Dorado. El Dorado can consider this payback for the 10-42 loss they dealt Americas the last time the teams encountered one another.
Americas' offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 35 first-half points. El Dorado countered with 6 points, leaving the score at 35-6 going into the half. Americas put the match away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and six points allowed from the defense.
Sophomore Joaquin Sandoval, who threw 4 TDs and punched in 3 rushing TDs, was a major factor in Americas's success. Junior Ryan Acosta was in the mix, too, providing Americas with 2 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 3-2. El Dorado are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-5.
Americas will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against Franklin in two weeks at 7:00 PM. The team will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for El Dorado, they will face off against Del Valle.
