The Greer Yellow Jackets will face off against the Daniel Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greer has given up an average of 28.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Greer is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Seneca just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Bobcats. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, the Yellow Jackets couldn't push the score so high this time.
Although Greer took the loss, they still got scores from Tucker Hudson and Zy Foster.
Meanwhile, Daniel had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 66-21 win over the Fighting Tigers. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Daniel found their leader in sophomore Jace Grass, who threw for 361 yards and six touchdowns. Thanks to that big game, Grass is now up to 28 passing touchdowns on the season. Daniel's leading receiver Trey Wimbley was Grass' top target yet again, picking up 112 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Daniel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Malik Maddox and Kevin Jackson. Another thorn in Blue Ridge's side was Dexter Johnson, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Daniel's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Greer, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Greer has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Daniel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Greer was dealt a bruising 48-21 defeat at the hands of Daniel when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Will the Yellow Jackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
