On Wednesday, the Cherry Creek Bruins faced the Arapahoe Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherry Creek took down Arapahoe 53-37. The win was nothing new for Cherry Creek as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Cherry Creek to victory were Tianna Chambers and Molly Dorighi. Chambers scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Dorighi scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Braelynn Barnett, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Arapahoe still got an impressive performance from Liz Gentry, who scored 19 points. Gentry is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games she's played.
Arapahoe struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Cherry Creek's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Arapahoe, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherry Creek will take on Mullen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mullen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Arapahoe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Grandview is ranked 11th, while Arapahoe is ranked 23rd).
