On Wednesday, the Linsly Cadets faced the Ripley Vikings in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Linsly took a hard 40-26 fall against Ripley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Linsly has scored all season.
Leading Ripley to victory were Abigail Eastman and Erin Ryan. Eastman dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds, while Ryan scored 19 points. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Morgan Shanklin, who scored three points along with seven rebounds.
Linsly's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Ripley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Linsly's road trip will continue as they head out to face Union Local at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Union Local will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 271st in Ohio, while Linsly is ranked 19th in West Virginia). As for Ripley, they will play host again and welcome Sissonville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sissonville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Saturday.
