In what's become a running theme this season, the St. David's Warriors gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They put the hurt on St. Mary with a sharp 61-35 victory. The victory was nothing new for St. David's as they're now sitting on three straight.
St. David's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eliza Everett, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Everett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Benson, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five steals.
Several St. Mary's players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abby Sottini, who scored 14 points. Sottini is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Helen Newcomb was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
St. David's is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. David's will take on Chatham HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing at home against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. North Raleigh Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Mary's in North Carolina (North Raleigh Christian Academy is ranked 157th, while St. Mary's is ranked 355th).
