The Tumwater Thunderbirds won the last time they faced the Centralia Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Tumwater came out on top against Centralia by a score of 58-46. Given Tumwater's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Centralia is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tumwater's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sahara Anthony III, who scored 18 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Anthony III scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Wilson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Tumwater and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Centralia, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Tumwater will challenge Mark Morris at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centralia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
