2A Conference 9 recap September 10, 2013
Mount Pleasant scaled the state rankings by moving to 141 from 212 this week, the biggest jump in 2A Conference 9. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Cox Mill 27-14.
Forest Hills lost to Central 35-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Parkwood's dynamic duo of Grey Wyrick and Sam Mobley proved to be unstoppable against Piedmont, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wyrick threw for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns and Mobley had 194 yards receiving. Max Robinson helped Parkwood's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 64 yards.
The Rebels' dynamic duo of Wyrick and Mobley proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 17-28 with 1 interceptions.
Julius Stradford was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 155 yards as Monroe lost to Piedmont. Teammate Chase Bryum added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.
Wyrick put up the best numbers through the air as Lynn Coble's team fell to the Panthers.
Mobley was the best wideout in the league this week as the Rebels fell to Piedmont.
Parkwood's Wyrick and Mobley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A Conference 9 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Wyrick has thrown for 505 yards this season, while Mobley has 13 catches for 349 yards. The Redhawks' Stradford leads the league in rushing yards with 371.
The Rebels led the league in scoring this week by notching 31 points on the Rebels.
