Basketball Game Preview: Fowler Grizzlies vs. Walsenburg Panthers

Fowler has gone 9-1 against Walsenburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fowler Grizzlies will venture away from home to square off against the Walsenburg Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Fowler and Simla faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Saturday. Fowler took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Simla. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Cubs are ranked 38th).

Despite their loss, Fowler saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isaiah Montoya, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance also gave Montoya a new career-high in assists (four). Hagen McCuistion was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Walsenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 70-12 loss at the hands of Swallows Charter Academy.

Walsenburg got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Landon Eccher and Adrian Vallejos, who each put up four points. Logan Tenorio held things down on the boards with 13 rebounds.

Fowler's record now sits at 9-4. As for Walsenburg, their record now sits at 2-12.

Fowler beat Walsenburg 44-33 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Fowler have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walsenburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
