Even though the McMichael Phoenix scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Walkertown Wolfpack still came out on top. Walkertown took their match against McMichael 66-58. Given Walkertown's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while McMichael is ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walkertown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Tyson out in front who scored 12 points along with four steals. Jaylen Wilkerson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
The victory (which was Walkertown's third in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for McMichael, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Walkertown will look to defend their home court on Friday against T.W. Andrews at 6:30 p.m. McMichael won't have much time to rest: their next match is against West Forsyth at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. West Forsyth will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
