Bedford is a perfect 10-0 against Lincoln since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bedford has six straight wins, Lincoln has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Bedford not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 21st (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Chelsea.
While Bedford won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 27-25, 25-19.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lincoln and Monroe meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Railsplitters lost 3-0 to the Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Railsplitters have suffered since October 14th.
The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Monroe scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
Bedford will have to contain Rachel Pomorski as she made an impact in Lincoln's last game. She had seven digs and four aces.
Bedford's victory bumped their record up to 26-13. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-24.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Bedford has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bedford took their win against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Kicking Mules repeat their success, or do the Railsplitters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
