The Eastern Randolph Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Southwestern Randolph 59-23. While losing is never fun, Eastern Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Southwestern Randolph is ranked 125th).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenly Whitaker, who scored six points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mirianna Corea, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Eastern Randolph has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Southwestern Randolph, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
Eastern Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Graham at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Southwestern Randolph, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m.
