The Saugerties Sawyers came into Friday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 66-44 margin over Wallkill. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Saugerties also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saugerties to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Stinemire, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Boek, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Saugerties' victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Wallkill, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home.
Saugerties will take on Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saugerties focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Wallkill, they will head out on the road to take on Our Lady of Lourdes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wallkill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Our Lady of Lourdes is ranked 68th).
