Even though the Valencia Vikings scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Grant Lancers still came out on top. Grant took their matchup against Valencia 64-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Grant.
Grant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but WILLIAM OVERTON led the charge by scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. OVERTON has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omree Bentov, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Grant is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Valencia, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Grant will look to defend their home court on Monday against North Hollywood at 5:30 p.m. North Hollywood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Grant likes a good challenge. Valencia will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Golden Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th.
