The Coconino Panthers will square off against the Prescott Badgers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Coconino came up short against Lee Williams and fell 10-5.
Wes Shafor made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prescott). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Agua Fria a 28-0 shutout on Monday. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Andrew Jolley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Jolley was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Prescott let William Horn and Ashton Whitwell run wild. Horn got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Whitwell went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Horn a new career-high. Nicholas 'Nick' Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Prescott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Prescott is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Coconino, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Coconino suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Prescott when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
