After a string of five wins, the Virgin Valley Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 63-38 loss at the hands of Democracy Prep Agassi Campus. Virgin Valley has struggled against the Blue Knights recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Virgin Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reece Leavitt. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leavitt has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Democracy Prep Agassi Campus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Stroughter, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Stroughter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Tai Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Virgin Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
Virgin Valley will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Mater Academy East Las Vegas is ranked 24th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 39th). As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, they will head out on the road to face off against the Royals at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cristo Rey St. Viator comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
