Baseball Game Preview: Gulf Shores Dolphins vs. Hillcrest Patriots

The Gulf Shores Dolphins will face off against the Hillcrest Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Gulf Shores didn't have quite enough to beat Grissom and fell 9-8.

Jacob O'Bryan and Price Stephens stepped up to the plate in a big way. O'Bryan scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Stephens scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. O'Bryan is becoming a predictor of Gulf Shores' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

Even though they lost, Gulf Shores always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Commanders by a score of 11-8. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gulf Shores' loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Gulf Shores was able to grind out a solid victory over Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, winning 9-4. Does Gulf Shores have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hillcrest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
