Morgantown faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mohigans put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 21-0 win. The Mohigans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

One reason for the win was Morgantown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Carsin Lawhun was the leader with two.

The victory made it two in a row for Morgantown and bumps their season record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 10 points in those games. As for University, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Morgantown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 45-0 victory against Musselman on the 7th. As for University, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parkersburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Hawks will be up against the Big Reds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.7 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
