The Buena Vista Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena Vista is hoping to put an end to a 17-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Buena Vista suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Elkhorn South 72-35. Buena Vista found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mogtaba Mohamed, who scored 15 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Buena Vista struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Bishop Neumann posted their biggest win yet this season last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Boys Town 69-40 on the road. Given Bishop Neumann's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Boys Town is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Bishop Neumann, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Buena Vista was dealt a bruising 85-37 defeat at the hands of Bishop Neumann when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Buena Vista was down 50-19.
