The Bishop's Knights will take on the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Bishop's is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 3 on the offensive boards, a fact Bishop's proved on Saturday. They walked away with a 60-49 victory over San Marcos. Given Bishop's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while San Marcos is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop's can attribute much of their success to Margo Leong, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 rebounds, and Kamaili Lasua, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The match was Lasua's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Johnson, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Palo Verde Valley fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against San Marcos on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Bishop's has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Palo Verde Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.
