The Terra Nova Tigers will square off against the Menlo School Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Terra Nova sitting on 11 straight victories and Menlo School on five.
Terra Nova had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt More on Thursday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 10-3 win. Terra Nova's victory was all the more impressive since the Knights were averaging only 4.07 runs allowed on the season.
Evan Wilson and Joey Donati made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wilson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Donati tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Wilson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Donati scored a run while going 1-for-2. That's the most RBI Wilson has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Terra Nova let Luke Ornelas and Brody Finale run wild. Ornelas went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Finale scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Finale a new career-high in RBI (three).
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Menlo School brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past El Camino 14-2 on Thursday. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.
Jackson Flanagan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Menlo School is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Menlo School got a massive performance out of Zach Roeder, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Chuck Wynn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Menlo School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Terra Nova's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Menlo School, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Menlo School's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Terra Nova has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. It's a different story for Menlo School, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Terra Nova's hitters?
Terra Nova couldn't quite finish off Menlo School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
