The Mifflin Punchers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 84-65 bruising from Beechcroft. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tariq Johnson and John Glover certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson scored 19 points along with seven rebounds, while Glover scored 18 points. Johnson scored a full 29.2% of Mifflin's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bj Woody, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mifflin were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mifflin bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Beechcroft, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Mifflin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis DeSales at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Beechcroft will finish 2023 at home by hosting Dublin Coffman at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
