Loudoun County is a perfect 9-0 against Heritage since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Captains will host the Pride at 6:30 p.m. Loudoun County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Loudoun County's offense. They fell just short of Briar Woods by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Captains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Heritage waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 20-3 victory. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Pride this season.
Heritage got a great performance from Addy Foley as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Foley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Dooley, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Groft, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Loudoun County's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Heritage, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Loudoun County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Loudoun County's sizable advantage in that area, the Pride will need to find a way to close that gap.
Loudoun County was able to grind out a solid victory over Heritage in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Captains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pride turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
