The Amherst County Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 65-57 to George Washington. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zech Lilly, who scored 15 points. Jaion Morris was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Amherst County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for George Washington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst County will take on Brookville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for George Washington, they will be playing at home against Magna Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
