Snow Canyon gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Syracuse Titans. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on eight straight dating back to last season.
Diesel Lee and Beckham Thorpe dominated on the mound. Lee tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit, while Thorpe pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Dewy Gibb and Trey Vaughn did most of the damage at the plate: Gibb went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Vaughn went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Vaughn a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Mugavero, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Looking ahead, Snow Canyon will be taking part in a tournament against Lehi at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Syracuse, they will take on Canyon View at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
