If Girard was feeling good off their 47-12 takedown of Jefferson Area last Friday, that ride came to an abrupt end. Girard came up short against McKinley on Friday, falling 45-35. The Indians might have entered gameday a little too confident, resting on the laurels of their 49-13 win against McKinley when they last met August of last year.
Girard's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of JIMMY JONES, who rushed for 89 yards and three TDs on nine carries, and Morgan Clardy, who picked up 195 yards on the ground on 31 carries and caught two passes for 82 yards. JONES has been a guy to keep an eye on this season; he's played big for Girard in each of their last four games. JONES's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. Andrew Delgarbino was in the mix, too, providing Girard with two touchdowns.
Girard will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Perry. The Indians don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings. As for McKinley, they do not have any more games currently scheduled.
