The Milton Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Navarre Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Milton has ten straight wins, Navarre has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Milton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Fort Walton Beach at home to the tune of 65-28. Given Milton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Fort Walton Beach is ranked 428th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christopher Jaylen mckinley was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Treymar Jones was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Navarre pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Walton Beach. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (58), Navarre still had to take the loss.
Milton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.33 points. As for Navarre, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Milton came up short against Navarre in their previous matchup back in January, falling 57-51. Can Milton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
