After flying high against the San Rafael Bulldogs last Saturday, the Justin-Siena Braves came back down to earth. Justin-Siena was the victim of a tough 60-40 loss at the hands of Union on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Justin-Siena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 74th in California, while Union is ranked 12th in Washington).
Justin-Siena's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Zapolski, who scored 14 points. Zapolski scored a full 35% of Justin-Siena's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Naveena Jackson was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Justin-Siena's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Union, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
