Eaglecrest will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Grandview, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Raptors blew past the Wolves 3-0 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.
Eaglecrest was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-15, 26-24, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Cherry Creek made easy work of Overland on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cherry Creek took every set by at least 15 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-7, 25-10.
Eaglecrest better focus on containing Aubrey Blake and Elsie Switzer as the pair were huge in Cherry Creek's win. Blake had six digs and two aces, while Switzer had three aces and three assists. Those three aces gave Switzer a new career-high.
Cherry Creek was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive contests.
Eaglecrest's record is now 10-7. As for Cherry Creek, their record now sits at 9-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Eaglecrest has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Cherry Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
