The Kelly Walsh Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 36-31 loss to they. They lost against Wheatland in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-33 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Kelly Walsh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kennedy Davila. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ramya Green, who scored six points.
Kelly Walsh has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Wheatland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Kelly Walsh's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 4th. Wheatland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Green River on January 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Green River is ranked 30th, while Wheatland is ranked 12th).
