The Pepin/Alma Eagles will face off against the Augusta Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Augusta took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pepin/Alma, who comes in off a win.
Pepin/Alma was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Cochrane-Fountain City 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
Pepin/Alma was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (93-90), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-15, 14-25, 25-18, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Augusta didn't have quite enough to beat Independence/Gilmanton on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Beavers have struggled against the Indees recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Augusta sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 8-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-10.
Pepin/Alma's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-8. As for Augusta, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Pepin/Alma was able to grind out a solid victory over Augusta in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Beavers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
