Kofa has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will square off against the San Luis Sidewinders at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Kofa is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Luis in Arizona (Kofa is ranked 161st, while San Luis is ranked 323rd).
Kofa struggled with assists on Tuesday (Yuma had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kofa fell to Yuma 56-52.
Calvin Barber put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Braveheart, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Kofa were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, San Luis had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Alhambra by a score of 46-37 on Monday. The victory was just what San Luis needed coming off of a 73-33 loss in their prior match.
Kofa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for San Luis, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Kofa against San Luis in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 66-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kofa since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
