The Stevens Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-32 loss at the hands of Brennan. While losing is never fun, Stevens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 689th, while Brennan is ranked 24th).
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andra Stokes, who scored 12 points. Giana Monda was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Brennan found their leader in underclassman Bella Flemings, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 7 assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Flemings has scored at least 25% of Brennan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahogany Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Stevens has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Brennan, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.
Stevens will head out on the road to face off against O'Connor at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is on a four-game streak of home losses, Stevens a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Brennan will take on Sotomayor at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
