West Bend West and Kettle Moraine Lutheran are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Bend West will be strutting in after a victory while Kettle Moraine Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.
West Bend West proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hartford, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Orioles since October 19, 2019.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day West Bend West got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 26-28, 15-6.

West Bend West's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ella Henschel, who had 12 assists and seven digs, and Laila Hertel, who had 24 kills and seven digs. Those 24 kills gave Hertel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Steier, who had five aces and three digs.
West Bend West was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Kettle Moraine Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Xavier.
West Bend West is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-17 record this season. As for Kettle Moraine Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-16.
West Bend West was able to grind out a solid victory over Kettle Moraine Lutheran when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
