The Monroe Central Golden Bears had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-34 win over Union City on the road. Monroe Central pushed the score to 51-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Union City had little chance of recovering from.
Leading Monroe Central to victory were Justus Ullom and Jerimiah Ullom. Ullom gained 268 total yards and three touchdowns, while Ullom rushed for 200 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Ullom was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Despite the loss, Union City saw an underclassman step up: Jayson Connor picked up 25 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 140 yards and a touchdown. Brayden Huggins also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Monroe Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Union City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Monroe Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Wes-Del at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wes-Del is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
