Columbia hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Skyview took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbia, who comes in off a win.
Columbia was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Emmett on Thursday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 34-14 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Huskies since August 24, 2018.
Jackson Cheslak continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Santiago Carbajal also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Columbia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Columbia's defense stepped up as well, laying out Eli Brennan three times. Jake Meyers was especially locked on to Emmett's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Huskies' side was Michael Dominguez, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles (1.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Skyview's offense. They were outmatched by Bishop Kelly and fell 64-0. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Knights are ranked third).
Columbia's record now sits at 4-2. As for Skyview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Columbia was dealt a bruising 49-7 loss at the hands of Skyview in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 35-7.
