The Belen Eagles lost against the Valencia Jaguars back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Belen took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valencia. While losing is never fun, Belen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Valencia is ranked 33rd).
Belen's loss came despite strong showings from Jaelynn Bob and Analeigha Wright. Bob scored ten points, while Wright scored nine points. Bob continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Belen has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Valencia, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belen will take on St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Belen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valencia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
