Cathedral Catholic posted their biggest win since November 24, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Madison 87-59 at home. The win was just what Cathedral Catholic needed coming off of a 70-50 loss in their prior game.
Cathedral Catholic relied on the efforts of Pj Jourdain, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Patrick O'brien, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points O'brien has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Enos, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mission Bay was able to grind out a solid win over Linfield Christian on Saturday, taking the game 69-57. Given Mission Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Linfield Christian is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cathedral Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Mission Bay, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Cathedral Catholic skirted past Mission Bay 69-67 in their previous meeting on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cathedral Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
