Basketball Recap: Banneker Piles Up the Points Against Bell

Banneker won the last time they faced Bell and things went their way on Monday too. The Banneker Bulldogs claimed a resounding 54-11 win over the Bell Griffins. That 43 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Banneker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rainelle McNeil, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and seven steals. McNeil is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Falanah Sabir, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Banneker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Banneker pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Bell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Banneker will welcome Bard at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Banneker's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Bard's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bell, they will venture away from home to challenge Woodson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
