The Fivay Falcons posted their biggest win since December 22, 2023 on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 80-51 win over Dunedin. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-23.
Fivay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jose Morales led the charge by scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morales has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Brown, who scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, Dunedin still got an impressive performance from Keegan Paolillo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Paolillo also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Axel Mendez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though they lost, Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fivay pushed their record up to 12-10 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Dunedin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Fivay and Excel Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Excel Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Fivay likes a good challenge. As for Dunedin, they will head out on the road to face off against East Lake at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully East Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
