If the Normal West Wildcats were riding high off their 86-53 takedown of the Wauconda Bulldogs last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Normal West was beaten by Fremd 65-37 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Normal West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Fremd is ranked 104th).
Loss or not, Normal West got some senior leadership from Nate Moore and Isaiah Robinson. Moore scored 12 points, while Robinson. scored eight points along with two steals. Robinson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Zaleski, who scored five points.
Normal West has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fremd, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Normal West will face off against Peoria at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fremd will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Schaumburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Schaumburg is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
