The Sheboygan North Golden Raiders will square off against the Pulaski Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheboygan North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Sheboygan North fell victim to De Pere and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 13-0 to the Redbirds. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Raiders in their meetings with the Redbirds: they've now lost seven in a row.
Sheboygan North saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Bergstrom, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Bergstrom's first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pulaski, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Green Bay Southwest a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The matchup marked the Red Raiders' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Addison Luebke made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kianna Altendorf, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Molly Molthen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Pulaski kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Bay Southwest didn't got any hits.
Sheboygan North's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Pulaski, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sheboygan North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .417. However, it's not like Pulaski struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sheboygan North might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Pulaski when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
