The Colorado Springs Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 42-32 to Thomas MacLaren School. Colorado Springs Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miguel Cota-cordova, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Micah Akpata, who scored eight points.
Thomas MacLaren School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Frisbie, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Frisbie pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Hanks, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Colorado Springs Christian's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Thomas MacLaren School, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colorado Springs Christian will take on the Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Banning Lewis Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 483 points over their last seven games. As for Thomas MacLaren School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sentinels at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
