Lakota West is 9-1 against Fairfield since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lakota West Firebirds will head out on the road to square off against the Fairfield Indians at 1:45 p.m. Lakota West will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Sunday, Lakota West beat Notre Dame Academy 50-37.
Meanwhile, Fairfield strolled past Hamilton with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 55-40. Given Fairfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Hamilton is ranked 565th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Myka Richardson, who scored 15 points along with six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Kayla McCoy was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Lakota West is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Fairfield, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Everything came up roses for Lakota West against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 67-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakota West since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
