After two games on the road, Golden is heading back home. They will take on the Green Mountain Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Golden didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Panthers, but they still walked away with a 67-61 win. The win was just what Golden needed coming off of a 72-50 defeat in their prior game.
It was another big night for Alex Erger, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Leif Hansen, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Green Mountain strolled past the Cougars with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 60-44.
Green Mountain got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Weslin out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Simon Lunsford was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Golden's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Green Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Golden hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.1 points per game. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 69.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Golden suffered a grim 75-51 defeat to the Rams in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Golden was down 35-14.
