The Silver Creek Raiders will face off against the Gunn Titans on Tuesday. Silver Creek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Silver Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past San Lorenzo Valley 5-4.
Evangelina Cuevas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jessenia 'Taco' Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Gunn got themselves on the board against Oak Grove on Saturday, but Oak Grove never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Titans have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Violet Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
In other batting news, Katie Fitzhugh and Makena Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Fitzhugh went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Smith went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That home run was Fitzhugh's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emilia James, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Silver Creek's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Gunn, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Silver Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Gunn struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silver Creek might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from Gunn in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
