This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. Part of the action? A towering 125-point combined score for Tivy and Bastrop.
Can't Touch This
Alamo Heights's 38 - 21 win over East View last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Reed Andersen. Andersen threw for 394 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Andersen as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Judson (7th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Hays (120th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Judson picked up a decisive 'W' against Hays, finishing up at 49 - 14. Judson especially relied on senior Sincere Mccormick, who ran for 81 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, and sophomore De'anthony Lewis, who earned two touchdowns and 98 yards rushing the ball.
No Stoppin 'Em
Tivy and Bastrop went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (125) among all power ranked teams. Tivy won an extremely close contest against Bastrop with a final score of 63 - 62. Junior Cole Miears was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he tossed the ball for 362 yards and four TDs).
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Madison (81st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Lake Travis (27th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
